Cubs vs. Diamondbacks: Trevor Cahill baffles Chicago's bats as Arizona wins comfortably

The Diamondbacks took the lead early, and they'd cruise to the comfortable win over the Cubs on Saturday night. Trevor Cahill made his last start of 2012 a memorable one, going the distance and allowing only four hits while striking out nine. He'd allow two earned runs, both coming on an Alfonso Soriano home run in the top of the ninth. He'd also chip in with a pair of RBI, going 1-3 and drawing a walk at the plate.

Justin Germano would fare very differently on Saturday night. The Cubs right-hander would last just 4 1/3 innings, allowing seven earned runs on 10 hits (one home run) and a walk. He'd managed to strike out five batters on the night in the losing effort.

Justin Upton had a big day for the D'backs, going 2-4 with a home run and three RBI. Second baseman Aaron Hill chipped in with a 3-4 night which included a double and two RBI.

Chicago did very little at the plate on Saturday, but they would manage to plate two runs in their last turn at bat. Anthony Rizzo would draw a walk with one out in the top of the ninth and Alfonso Soriano would hit his 32nd home run of the season to account for all of Chicago's runs.

The two teams will meet again on Sunday in Chicago's final road game of the season. The Cubs will head home after that to close the 2012 season with a three-game set against the Astros. It will be Houston's final series as a member of the National League.
