Actual golf play in the 2012 Ryder Cup begins at Medinah (Ill.) Country Club Friday morning. The party began Tuesday with a celebrity scramble and continues throughout the week with a gala and the Field Museum pep rally.
Justin Timberlake, the "first-ever Ambassador for the U.S. Ryder Cup team," will make an appearance at the Ryder Cup Gala in Rosemont, Ill. Wednesday evening. Both teams' captains – Davis Love III and Jose Maria Olazabar – will appear, along with the band Chicago and comedian George Lopez. Tickets range from $200-$300.
The fan who doesn't want to trek into the Chicago suburbs can visit the Field Museum Thursday night for "Bagpipes and Blues," an officially-sanctioned pep rally that starts at $325 per ticket. "Elegant dishes celebrating the Ryder Cup" are available, along with Grey Goose and Pepsi.
Play begins at 8:20 a.m. EST Friday, as the first foursomes tee off. Foursomes are not yet set, though one can take some good guesses at who will be playing with whom.
