Greg Jennings Injury: Packers Receiver Unlikely To Play This Week

It appears unlikely that Green Bay Packers wide receiver Greg Jennings will be able to play on Thursday against theChicago Bears as he nurses a nagging groin injury, according to Adam Schefter of ESPN. Jennings did appear in last Sunday's game against the San Francisco 49ers, but the Packers are working on a shorter schedule this week.

As Schefter notes, Jennings is a tough player, but it's too early in the season to potentially risk his health:

Green Bay knows it's a long season and it's going to need to count on Jennings. It's more important to prep him for the final 14 than the upcoming one if there are any concerns about that groin injury right now -- and there are.

The injury doesn't sound especially serious, but with the Packers having only a few days between last Sunday's game against San Francisco and Thursday's game against Chicago, it appears that they're erring on the side of caution with one of their key playmakers. Last week, Jennings caught five passes for 34 yards against the 49ers.
