The Northwestern Wildcats football team travels to Syracuse at 11 a.m. CT Saturday in the season opener for both teams. The game will be televised on ESPN2 and will be on ESPN 1000 radio in Chicago.
Northwestern is coming off of a 6-7 season overall and the team was 3-5 in the Big Ten. Syracuse finished 5-7 last season, but the Orange were last in the Big East at 1-6. The teams last played in 2009, with Syracuse winning 37-34
The Chicago Tribune notes that Northwestern's speed on offense should give the team an advantage:
The Kain Colter-Venric Mark combo gives Northwestern tremendous speed in the backfield. The major question is whether the right side of NU's line will hold up.
Northwestern is favored by 2.5 points.
