Chicago Bulls Will Only Let Adrian Griffin Interview For Head Coaching Jobs

The Orlando Magic reached out to Chicago Bulls assistant coach Adrian Griffin about possibly interviewing for their lead assistant coaching role, but Chicago is apparently only letting Griffin interview for head coaching jobs, as Chris Haynes of reports.

Griffin was one of many candidates for the Portland Trail Blazers' head coaching gig during this offseason after the Bulls gave him permission to pursue the job, but the job went to former Bucks head coach Terry Stotts. By becoming lead assistant in Orlando, he'd potentially put himself in a position for a promotion to the head role, as Haynes speculates.

In Chicago, Ron Adams is currently the lead assistant coach under Tom Thibodeau, but Griffin is considered an up-and-comer in NBA coaching corners. New Magic coach Jacque Vaughn apparently wanted him to become a key part of his staff, but the Bulls prefer to retain his services going forward.
