Carl Pettersson was the low man in the first round of the 2012 PGA Championship on Thursday after shooting a six-under 66, and he'll carry a one-stroke lead into Friday.

Four golfers are tied for second at -5, including Rory McIlroy, and behind them there is an even larger group at four under.
Northwestern alum Luke Donald finished the day +2, as did former Illini golfer Steve Stricker. Illinois native D.A. Points is also over par.
Elsewhere in the field, Graeme McDowell and John Daly are among the golfers at -4, and Tiger Woods finished three under par. Bubba Watson and Phil Mickelson didn't fare so well, but at +1 they've hardly played their way out of contention.
