Notre Dame Football 2012: Andrew Hendrix, Everett Golson Could Both Play Against Navy

The Notre Dame Fighting Irish could alternate using Andrew Hendrix and Everett Golson in place of suspended starting quarterback Tommy Rees during his one-game absence, as SB Nation's Andy Hutchins writes.

Head coach Brian Kelly told reporters on Wednesday that the team may end up using both quarterbacks rather than replace Rees with just one player:

I've played two quarterbacks before and I've had great success with that. We'll know if we get to game time that both of them have to play. Obviously they both have ability to be starters, so I can't say that I wouldn't be comfortable.

The Irish will be extremely inexperienced at the quarterback in their season opener against Navy no matter what, as Golson has never thrown a pass in college football before while Hendrix has just 37 passing attempts under his belt. The team does have an elite recruit in Gunner Kiel, but he presumably won't be ready to handle full-time QB duties from day one.
