Chicago native Wallace Spearmon will get his chance to compete in the first round of the men's 200 meter race on Tuesday at the Olympics. Spearmon will compete in the sixth heat, which will include seven other competitors. Spearmon's heat is one of seven on the day. Jamaica's Usain Bolt will compete in the first heat. He holds the world record in the event with a time of 19.19.

A pair of local women's basketball stars will also be in action. Sylvia Fowles and Swin Cash, each of the Chicago Sky, will be set to take on Canada in the quarterfinals with the rest of the Team USA teammates. The American women are heavily favored to win gold in the tournament.
