2012 London Olympics Medal Count: China Regains Lead Over USA

China is back on top of the medal count at the 2012 London Olympic Games after Day 9. The U.S. and China have been trading back and forth for the lead throughout the Olympics and things didn't stop being interesting on Sunday.

The Americans had a decent showing with six total medals on the day and three of them gold. That wasn't enough, however, to keep China from rallying for the lead. China now has 61 total medals and 30 gold.

Take a look at the top 5 in the medal count right here:

  1. China: 61 (30 gold, 17 silver, 14 bronze)
  2. United States: 60 (28, 18, 18)
  3. Great Britain: 37 (16, 11, 10)
  4. Russia: 35 (4, 16, 15)
  5. Japan: 27 (2, 12, 13)
