Jabari Parker Recruiting: Illinois Still In Pursuit Of Nation's No. 1 Senior

Illinois Fighting Illini head coach John Groce has continued to recruit Simeon Academy forward Jabari Parker, the nation's top-rated senior, according to Scott Powers of ESPN Chicago. Parker's father discussed the situation on Monday, noting that his son could actually still consider Illinois.

Back in early July, Parker released a list of ten teams under consideration, but the Illini weren't included on that list. Illinois had been recruiting the 6'8 forward with Bruce Weber as head coach, but he was fired earlier this year and replaced with Groce, who recently turned Ohio into one of the nation's top teams.

Parker apparently crossed Illinois off his list once the team fired Weber, who had been establishing a relationship with the player and his family for years, but Groce continues to work with the same goal in mind. If the coach could somehow land Parker, it would be a major event for the program.
