2012 Barclays: Rory McIlroy Gets Rolling Early In First Round

Rory McIlroy is living up to his status as the top-ranked golfer in the world during the opening round of play at The Barclays, as he has posted a score of 3-under par through 10 holes and sits just one stroke back of the tournament lead. McIlory is outplaying the most prominent member of his grouping, Tiger Woods, who has managed to shoot 1-under through 10 holes. The group started play on the back nine at Bethpage Black, and McIlroy boosted up his play with birdies on holes Nos. 11, 13, 15 and 17.

As for the other local talent, Steve Stricker has shot an even par through 11 holes and Luke Donald has also posted an even par through 12 holes.

The Golf Channel will carry coverage of the first round from 1 p.m. CT and broadcast until 5 p.m. CT, but Tiger and Rory will be finished by that time. Click here for a full list of tee times. For live Barclays leaderboard, visit Golf.com.
