Henry Dickinson Injury: Illinois Linebacker Out For The Season

Linebacker Henry Dickinson will miss the 2012 season for Illinois with fractures in his leg and ankle.

Presswire

Illnois Fighting Illini linebacker Henry Dickinson is out for the 2012 season with fractures in his leg and ankle, according to the Associated Press. A spokesman for the school said the injury happened during a scrimmage last week.

Dickinson, a 6-foot-4, 215-pound sophomore from Memphis, Tenn., played 11 games as a freshman, mostly on special teams. He was reported to be competing with Houston Bates for a starting job. The Illini are expected to redshirt him so he can return in 2013 with three years of eligibility remaining.

Illinois opens the season against Western Michigan on Sept. 1. The Fighting Illini finished 7-6 in 2011, winning their first six games before ending the regular season on a six-game losing streak and beating UCLA in the Kraft Fight Hunger Bowl on New Year's Eve.
