Sunday is, of course, reserved for the final round of a golf tournament, but that is not the case at the 2012 PGA Championship. Due to thunderstorms, Saturday's third round was cut short, leaving a handful of golfers at or near the top of the leaderboard with rounds still to finish. So Sunday's action will begin there, before turning over to the final round somewhere in the late morning.
When the golfers headed into the clubhouse on Saturday, it was Rory McIlroy who was in the lead at 7-under, after shooting a blazing 5-under on the day. He has a three shot lead on three golfers— Trevor Immelman, Vijay Singh and Carl Pettersson— who are tied for second. Tiger Woods, who entered the round with a share of the lead, had a dreadful day, falling back to 2-under.
Illinois graduate Steve Stricker is in seventh place at 2-under after shooting 5-under, while Northwestern graduate Luke Donald is far down the leaderboard at 8-over.
