Cubs Prospects Daniel Vogelbach, Starling Peralta Earn Baseball America Prospect Hot Sheet Honors

The Chicago Cubs had a pair of prospects land on Baseball America's Prospect Hot Sheet. RHP Starling Peralta checks in at No. 6 after hurling a 7-inning, 14-strikeout game earlier this week. The Single-A starter has a 3.17 ERA and 4.41 FIP through 71 innings this season, and he promises to draw further attention if he can keep his walks low and strikeouts high like he did this week.

1B Daniel Vogelbach, meanwhile, checks in at No. 12. The stout 19-year-old has slaughtered pitching at every level. He is currently at the High-A level and homering 1 in every 10 plate appearances. Yeah. Wow.

He has a .356/.415/.746 slash with 6 home runs through 65 PA in the Northwest League. And, at just 19-years-old, Vogelbach checks in a good two years younger than his fellow batters. The average hitter age of the Northwest League -- 21.1 -- suggests Vogelbach could be poised to rocket through the Cubs minor league system. Success against older leagues can predicate great success at the MLB level.
