Neither of the American rowing teams were successful in Olympic competition in London on Wednesday, as the men's team fell just short of grabbing a medal with a fourth place finish in the men's eight.
The USA was in Group A along with five other countries, including Great Britain, which won the bronze medal. Germany took the gold medal, while Canada won silver.
DeKalb natives Grant and Ross James were competing for the U.S., which just barely missed Great Britain by 0.3 seconds. In fact, Great Britain, U.S., the Netherlands and Australia were all really close in the race with some variation of 5:51.
Team USA and China entered Wednesday's action with 23 medals each.
