2012 London Olympics, Rowing: Sarah Hendershot, Sarah Zelenka Miss Medals In Women's Pair

What's the difference between winning an Olympic medal and missing the podium altogether? Well, in women's pair rowing on Wednesday, the answer was .20 seconds. That's how close Americans Sarah Hendershot and Park Ridge-native Sarah Zelenka were from taking home a bronze medal, but it was not to be.

That bronze went to Juliette Haigh and Rebecca Scown of New Zealand, who finished the race in 7:30.19, just a hair ahead of the Americans' time of 7:30.39. Silver went to Kate Hornsey and Sarah Tait of Australia (7:29.86) while gold was taken home by Helen Glover and Heather Stanning of Great Britain.

Unfortunately for Zelenka and Hendershot, women's pair was their lone event at the 2012 games, and time will tell if they are able to make it back to the Olympics in 2014 in Rio de Janeiro.
