New Orleans center Anthony Davis has been chosen to replace the injured Blake Griffin on this year's Team USA basketball roster for the Olympics, as Adrian Wojnarowski of Yahoo! Sports reports. The Chicago native is by far the youngest player on the 12-man roster, which features stars like Kobe Bryant and LeBron James.
A few days ago, it seemed unlikely that Davis would make the Team USA roster after failing to take the court due to an ankle sprain. That was before Griffin's knee injury opened up a spot on Thursday, forcing the Americans to scramble and bring back Davis to the roster.
On Thursday, Team USA looked quite strong in a 113-59 blowout of the Dominican Republic national team in front of a pro-U.S. crowd in Las Vegas. Davis turned heads near the end of the game when he knocked down a three-point shot while being fouled, much to the delight of the crowd.
