Wimbledon Scores And Results: Andy Roddick Eliminated

After a series of upsets and near-misses plagued the opening week of Wimbledon, the action on Saturday has gone much more according to plan. Higher-seeds have taken care of business, while Andy Roddick saw his run come to an end after opening the match with promise.

Roddick cruised in the opening set against No. 7 seed David Ferrer, winning 6-2 and looking very impressive. However, he was unable to keep up the performance and dropped the next three. While Roddick went out, Mardy Fish, who is the highest-ranked American left in the field, cruised to a 6-3,7-6,7-6 victory over David Goffin of Belgium. Fish will face a much bigger challenge in the 4th round, as he is set to face No. 5 seed Jo-Wilfried Tsonga.

Juan Martin Del Potro has been impressive on the grass courts so far, as he dispatched Kei Nishikori in three sets. He will face Ferrer in the next round.
