The third day of the 2012 Wimbledon was loaded with upsets on the women's side, with four of the top 13 seeded women being sent home on Wednesday in a hectic series of events.
Other than No. 7-ranked Caroline Wozniacki, 2011 French Open champion Li Na, 2011 U.S. Open champion Sam Stosur and No. 13-ranked Dominika Cibulkova all were knocked out on an upset-ridden afternoon.
Stosur, the fifth-ranked woman, lost 6-2, 0-6, 6-4 to 72nd-ranked Arantxa Rus of the Netherlands, while 11th-ranked Li lost 6-3, 6-4 to 52nd-ranked Sorana Cirstea of Romania.
Cibulkova lost 6-4, 6-1 to 31st-ranked Klara Zakopalova of the Czech Republic in the first round.
