US Open Odds 2012: Luke Donald Closes In On Tiger Woods

Three-time U.S. Open winner Tiger Woods entered the week as the overwhelming favorite to win title No. 4, but as the tournament gets closer, oddsmakers are giving his competitors a better shot at taking him down. Chief among them is Northwestern University graduate Luke Donald, who, along with Lee Westwood, has overtaken defending champion Rory McIlroy as the oddsmakers' second most likely golfer to win the tournament.

Illinois native Steve Stricker is also in good position according to oddsmakers, as he's tabbed as a 40/1 favorite to win, which puts him inside the 20 most likely golfers. He's joined in that slot by Hunter Mahan and Sergio Garcia.

Here are the top 10 favorites, per Bovada:

  • Tiger Woods, 13/2
  • Lee Westwood, 11/1
  • Luke Donald, 11/1
  • Rory McIlroy, 14/1
  • Phil Mickelson, 20/1
  • Dustin Johnson, 25/1
  • Jason Dufner, 25/1
  • Justin Rose, 28/1
  • Matt Kuchar, 28/1
  • Adam Scott 33/1
