Illinois State Basketball Coaching Search: Dan Muller Will Be Next Redbirds Coach, According To Report

The Pantagraph, a daily newspaper covering Bloomington and Central Illinois, reported on Monday the Illinois State Redbirds would promote assistant Rob Judson to head coach of the men's basketball program. Apparently, Illinois State has decided to change directions.

A new report from CBS Sports' Jeff Goodman says the next coach of the Redbirds will actually be Dan Muller, an assistant at Vanderbilt. Muller played for Illinois State from 1995-1998 and will reportedly replace former coach Tim Jankovich.

Muller led ISU to the NCAA Tournament in 1997 and 1998. The Redbirds haven't made the Big Dance since. Muller made the game-winning layup in '98 against the Tennessee Volunteers into give ISU its last victory in the NCAA Tournament.

Muller played two seasons for the Vancouver Grizzlies before beginning his coaching career.
