On Sunday, the Northwestern Wildcats defeated the Syracuse Orange 8-6 in the 2012 NCAA women's lacrosse title game. This is the seventh NCAA title in the last eight seasons for Northwestern. As SB Nation's Northwestern blog, Sippin' On Purple, wrote after the game had ended, the better team won:
Northwestern beat Syracuse by two, but dominated nearly everything about the game besides goals scored. NU had basically twice the time of possession, won draw controls 12-4, and didn't really struggle despite a relatively close game in terms of scoreline. A well deserved national championship for a team that was the best on the field tonight, although it is unfortunate that they never were able to beat Florida, the team that beat them twice.
