2012 Indy 500: Josef Newgarden With Early Top Speed Results

With opening day around the corner, the drivers hit the track for the first time and get some practice.

Practice is underway at the Indianapolis 500 and the competition is getting a feel for the track. After a delay to accommodate for rookie driver Katherine Legge's Rookie Orientation Program, the field has mostly finished their initial runs and begun to settle in after a quick first day.

Josef Newgarden took home the day's top spot, beating Charlie Kimball by almost a full 2 mph. The hotly-contested third-best run feature Kimball, Justin Wilson and Scott Dixon all separated by less than half a mile per hour.
