2012 Masters: Phil Mickelson Makes Third Round Charge

The story of the third round of the 2012 Masters has been the play of Phil Mickelson, who with just two holes remaining, has made a charge near the top of the leaderboard. Mickelson and Louis Oosthuizen are currently tied in second at -7, while Peter Hanson leads the way at -8.

The third round began with Fred Couples and Jason Dufner at the top of the leaderboard. Neither of the second round leaders have been able to keep pace with the guys at the top, as both have shot +1 so far in the third round. The two golfers with local ties in the tournament have struggled to make much of an impact, as Steve Stricker struggled to generate any momentum and sits tied for 41st entering the final round. Unfortunately, Luke Donald is even farther outside the chase following a +3 third round, which leaves him tied for 52nd.
