2012 NFL Draft: Notre Dame's Michael Floyd Drafted 13th Overall By Arizona

The Arizona Cardinals have selected Notre Dame wide receiver Michael Floyd with the 13th overall pick in this year's NFL draft, giving the team's offense a brand new weapon to play around with for next season. The move allows the Cardinals to pair Floyd with Larry Fitzgerald, potentially giving the team two elite pass-catchers.

Numerous players had been rumored to be options for Arizona with the pick, but ultimately it appears that the Cardinals didn't feel comfortable with the options it had on offense. Fitzgerald had publicly supported the idea of adding Floyd, which could've played into this decision, too.

The team struggled to score points under new quarterback Kevin Kolb last season, and getting Floyd gives him another option to make things easier. With the Fighting Irish in 2011, Floyd caught 100 passes for 1,147 yards and nine touchdowns as a senior. He's the second wide receiver taken in the draft behind Oklahoma State's Justin Blackmon, who was taken by Jacksonville with the fifth pick.
