Anthony Davis Declares For 2012 NBA Draft

On Tuesday, five University of Kentucky underclassmen declared for the 2012 NBA Draft, including Chicago native Anthony Davis, who is widely regarded as the surefire top pick of the draft.

Freshmen Anthony Davis, Michael Kidd-Gilchrist and Marquis Teague, and sophomores Terrence Jones and Doron Lamb declared for the draft in a nationally televised news conference Tuesday night.

Davis was a huge presence in the paint for a Kentucky team that won the national championship and finished the year with a 38-2 record. He averaged 14.3 points, 10 rebounds and 4.7 blocks per game; he made 65.3% of his two-point attempts and shot over 70% at the free throw line.

The 2012 NBA Draft is scheduled for Thursday, June 28.
