The Northern Illinois Huskies entered their first round matchup in the MAC Tournament against the Western Michigan Broncos at just 5-25, so it's safe to say tonight's result doesn't register as much of a surprise. Western Michigan dropped Northern Illinois 71-54 by blowing out the Huskies in the second half to advance to the next round of the MAC Tournament. The win moves the Broncos to 14-19 overall. NIU will see its season end at 5-26.
Western Michigan was led by guard Mike Douglas, who finished with 19 points and seven assists in the victory. Guard Demetrius Ward added 13 points and four rebounds for the Broncos. Brandon Pokley scored 12 for Western Michigan in the win.
Northern was led by Tony Nixon, who scored a team-high 11 points. Antone Christian added 10 points for the Huskies off the bench in the loss.
