Horizon League Tournament: Detroit Topples Valparaiso 68-50 In Championship Game

The third-seeded Detroit Titans held the top seeded Valparaiso Crusaders to just 38 percent shooting on Tuesday night en route to a 68-50 victory in the championship game of the Horizon League Tournament. The win improves Detroit to 22-13 overall and 11-7 in the conference, while the Crusaders fall to 22-11, 14-4. The Titans earned an automatic berth to the NCAA Tournament with the victory.

It was the coach's son, sophomore guard Ray McCallum, who powered the Titans. McCallum scored 19 points on 9-of-15 shooting and added six rebounds and four steals. Teammate Jason Calliste scored 17 points in the win. Big man LaMarcus Lowe had 14 points and 10 rebounds for Detroit.

Forward Kevin Van Wijk had 17 points and eight rebounds to lead Valparaiso. Ryan Broekhoff had 13 points and six rebounds in the loss.
