No, former Illinois Fighting Illini coach Bruce Weber won't be going back to Carbondale next season. The Southern Illinois Salukis hired Barry Hinson Monday evening to be the program's next men's basketball coach.
Hinson is best known as the head coach of Missouri State from 1999-2008 where he compiled a 169-117 overall record, went to the three NIT times, and finished second in the Missouri Valley Conference twice. Since he was fired from Missouri State in 2008, Hinson has worked under Bill Self for the Kansas Jayhawks. Hinson spent the first two years as the director of external relations for the Jayhawks and the previous two seasons as the program's director of operations.
The job was reportedly offered to Weber, the coach at SIU from 1998-2003, a few weeks ago.
