NCAA Bracket 2012: Day 1 In The Books, Higher Seeds Dominate

The field of 64 is already shrinking, as 16 teams were eliminated on Thursday in the second round of the 2012 NCAA tournament. Those fans looking for upsets were disappointed, as only one lower-seeded team - VCU - was victorious on Thursday.

The surprise of the day came in a near win for UNC-Asheville over Syracuse, which would have marked the first time a 16 seed had toppled a one seed. The Orange prevailed late, staving off an historic defeat.
