NASCAR officials announced early Monday morning the newest start time for the 2012 Daytona 500: 6 p.m. CT. The race has been delayed multiple times thanks to persistent rains hitting the Daytona Beach area.
The projected 6 p.m. start on Monday will be the latest in the 53-year history of NASCAR's biggest race, but race officials have been unable to find a suitable window of time where the skies— and track— would be clear enough to start the race. Whenever the race does get underway, and certainly those involved hope sooner rather than later, it will be broadcast nationally on FOX.
