Daytona 500 2012: Start Time, TV Schedule And More

South Bend's Ryan Newman will have some ground to make up with the 2012 Daytona 500 gets underway, as he'll start the race in the middle of the pack at spot 18 on the starting grid. His position is, of course, not a death sentence, but with drivers like Carl Edwards, Jimmie Johnson and Jeff Gordon ahead of him, he'll really have to work to move to the front of the pack.

He may also have to wait, along with the rest of the drivers, as the start time for Sunday's race may be up in the air. Heavy rains have been threatening Daytona for much of the morning, leading to speculation that the race could be pushed back to Sunday night or even Monday morning, the latter of which has never happened in the 53-year history of the race. NASCAR would likely be loathe to alter the start time of what is by far their biggest event of the year, but a safe, clean race is preferable to one that starts on time, if push comes to shove.

Race date/time: February 26, 2012, 12:00 p.m. CST

Location: Daytona International Speedway, Daytona Beach, Fla.

TV: FOX

Radio: Motor Racing Network
