College Football Recruiting: WR Nelson Agholor Chooses USC Over ND, UF

The Notre Dame Fighting Irish were considered a (very) longshot for Tampa, Fla. five-star WR Nelson Agholor, who was reportedly choosing between the USC Trojans and Florida Gators. And indeed, Agholor chose to go West, spurning in-state schools in order to join the Trojans' stockpile of wide receivers. The Irish will presumably be seeing Agholor down the road, and that only adds insult to him not picking Notre Dame in the first place, not to mention the Irish losing a five-star receiver of their own in Deontay Greenberry.

Here's SB Nation's Bud Elliot on Agholor:

USC is getting a special playmaker. Some see Agholor on defense, but any team using Agholor in a way that denies him the ball in his hands is foolish. Agholor is both fast and quick. He's explosive and easily beats the poor competition he plays in high school. And of course, he can make people miss. That trait should make him a top return man as well.

Agholor will need to adjust to a higher level of competition and add some weight to his frame.
