College Football Recruiting: WR Deontay Greenberry Pulls Stunner, Drops Irish For Houston

One of the things that keeps the Signing Day machine churning is when a recruit shocks the college football world by unpredictably signing with one school over another, or by spurning a school at the last minute with whom he had a longterm commitment. The Notre Dame Fighting Irish felt Signing Day's wrath early today when WR Deontay Greenberry— who is rated as either a four-star or five-star commit by the national recruiting services— chose to sign with the Houston Coguars over the Irish, where he had been committed since October.

Greenberry is ranked by Rivals as the No. 49 overall player in the class, and is being compared to Larry Fitzgerald. His defection is undoubtedly a huge blow to Brian Kelly's recruiting class, and it sent shockwaves across the nation:
