Disregarded by many pundits due to their conference affiliation, the Northern Illinois Huskies will make their first ever BCS appearance on Tuesday evening against the Florida State Seminoles in the 2013 Orange Bowl.
The Huskies are listed as 13-point underdogs according to oddsmakers, and are expected to once again rely on both the arms and legs of do-it-all junior quarterback Jordan Lynch. Though he measures in at barely 6'0, the 216-pound Lynch ran for a whopping 1,771 yards and 19 touchdowns from the quarterback position alone this season. Not to be outdone, he also enters Tuesday's game just 38 passing yards away from a 3,000-yard campaign, and his 24:5 touchdown-to-interception ratio is a clear testament to his sound decision-making.
Both teams averaged more than 40 points per game during the regular season, although Florida State posted an 0-6 mark against the spread when not playing at home. The Seminoles also finished with a meager 4-9 record against the spread overall, but continue to wreak havoc in postseason play with an 8-0-1 record against the spread over their last nine bowl games.
