College Hockey 2012 scores: Notre Dame sweeps weekend series, Michigan splits weekend

Ohio State swept Michigan State over the weekend while Michigan and Minnesota split their weekend series.

The Notre Dame Fighting Irish hockey team played a close game with the Lake Superior Lakers on Friday night, emerging victorious 3-2. Just one day later, the Fighting Irish took much easier care of the Lakers, beating them 6-1 and picking up the weekend sweep of their CCHA opponent. The Fighting Irish improve to 11-4 on the season with the sweep of the Lakers.

The Ohio State Buckeyes allowed the Michigan State Spartans just one goal over two games this weekend, winning 1-0 on Friday and 3-1 on Saturday. The Buckeyes move to 7-4-3 on the season while the Spartans tumble to 4-8-2 overall.

The Michigan Wolverines nearly dropped two games to the Ferris State Bulldogs over the weekend. After falling 5-0 to Ferris State on Friday, the Wolverines would need a shootout to beat the Bulldogs on Saturday. The game finished 3-3 and Michigan won in the shootout 3-2. The Wolverines sit at 5-8-2 on the season after the weekend, with the Bulldogs moving to 7-4-3.

The Minnesota Golden Gophers split their weekend series with the Nebraska-Omaha Mavericks, falling 3-2 on Friday and winning by the same score on Saturday. Minnesota now sits at 10-3-2 on the season.
