UIC basketball falls to Western Illinois

The UIC Flames saw their eight-game winning streak snapped on Tuesday, as Western Illinois cruised to a 70-54 win.

The University of Illinois Chicago Flames (9-2) saw their eight-game winning streak snapped on Tuesday night, as the Flames lost to the Western Illinois Leathernecks (8-3), 70-54.

Western Illinois forward Terell Parks led all scorers with 19 points. Parks also grabbed a game-high 11 rebounds, posting a double-double in the win.

Ceola Clark III and Jack Houpt also scored in double-figures for the Leathernecks. Clark III added 14 points, eight assists and six rebounds, while Houpt scored 12 points while snagging three rebounds.

Flames guard Joey Miller came off the bench and scored a team-high 15 points for Illinois-Chicago, while adding three rebounds and three steals in 26 minutes. Chicago-Illinois center Josh Crittle was the only other player on the Flames to score in double figures, scoring 14 points.

As a team, Western Illinois shot 52.4% (22-of-42), while Chicago-Illinois shot just 36.2% (17-47).

Chicago-Illinois will look to start a new winning streak on Saturday, when the flames take on Miami (OH).
