Chicago Bears injuries: Six players unable to practice Thursday

Big names headline Chicago's injury report.

Doug Pensinger

This Sunday's match-up against the Green Bay Packers is critical for Chicago's playoff push. The Bears' job could become far more difficult at Soldier Field, especially if the host of players who missed practice today are unable to compete.

Thursday's injury list is headlined by huge names. Earl Bennett, Tim Jennings, Brian Urlacher, Henry Melton, and Lance Briggs all missed their second consecutive practice. Luckily, Jay Cutler returned, and while the Bears' quarterback was limited, it's a much-needed sign they'll may have their signal-caller for Sunday.

The defense is poised to be a shadow of themselves. Henry Melton may not have the household name appeal of Jennings, Urlacher, or Briggs -- but the fourth-year defensive tackle has been a major force for Chicago with 41 tackles and six sacks this season.
