Jabari Parker recruiting: Simeon star will announce college decision on Dec. 20

One of the nation's top high school basketball stars, Jabari Parker, will make a commitment next week.

Chicago high school basketball phenom Jabari Parker will announce on Thursday, Dec. 20 where he will attend college next year. Parker will make the announcement at Simeon Career Academy, where he has grown into a star in leading the school to the 2012 Illinois Class 4A state title.

Parker will be choosing from five finalists: the BYU Cougars, Duke Blue Devils, Florida Gators, Michigan St. Spartans and Stanford Cardinal. Duke and Michigan State have long been considered the favorites for Parker, though Florida is seen by many in the basketball recruiting world as a dangerous dark horse to land his services.

The announcement will be a culmination of nearly a handful of years of recruiting for Parker, his family and the coaching staffs that have stuck with him since before he was even in high school. Parker had been the consensus No. 1 player in the 2013 class before this year, but the major recruiting services recently bumped West Virginia prep power forward Andrew Wiggins to the top spot.
