College Hockey schedule 2012: Irish set for big game vs. Boston College

Notre Dame faces the defending champion on Friday night.

The Notre Dame Fighting Irish men's hockey team will have one of its toughest challenges of the season when it travels to play Boston College on Friday night.

Notre Dame enters the game with a 6-2 overall record and a 3-1 record in the CCHA. The Irish have won four of its last five games.

Boston College is the defending National Champion. The Eagles are 6-1 this season, with all games coming in the Hockey East conference. The Eagles' only loss came in their season opener against Northeastern, 3-1.

Notre Dame has been led this season by a pair of junior forwards. Anders Lee has five goals and four assists in eight games while Bryan Rust has two goals and four assists in eight games. The Irish have five players tied for third on the team with four points.

Boston College's Johnny Gaudreau has been solid this season. The sophomore forward has four goals and five assists in seven games. He leads the team in points with nine.

The puck drops Friday night at 7 p.m. ET.
