Despite the continued absence of injured guard Derrick Rose, the Chicago Bulls will look to improve to 3-0 for the first time in 16 years Saturday night at 7 p.m. CT when they host the New Orleans Hornets. The Hornets will be without top players Eric Gordon, who is out with a knee injury, and rookie Anthony Davis, who suffered a mild concussion on Friday night.
For the Bulls, it has been business as usual to open 2012, as Chicago has jumped out to a 2-0 start with back-to-back victories over Sacramento and at Cleveland. With Rose out, several players have stepped up, including veteran Richard Hamilton, who is averaging 19 points for the club. Carlos Boozer and Joakim Noah have combined for 35 points a game in the frontcourt.
Things haven't been nearly as smooth for the Hornets, who notched their first win of the season over Utah at home on Saturday. Despite the victory, Davis, the No. 1 overall pick in the most recent draft played just 14 minutes after suffering a mild concussion early. Davis did not travel from New Orleans to Chicago and is now listed as day to day.
The game can be seen locally in Chicago on WCIU.
