The FCS college football selection show will air on ESPNU at 1:30 p.m. ET Sunday, and two schools from the state of Illinois could make their way into the 20-team playoff bracket. The Illinois State Redbirds and Eastern Illinois Panthers are both hoping for bids.
Illinois State is ranked No. 16 after a 38-20 loss to second-ranked North Dakota State this weekend, according to The Sports Network. Meanwhile, Eastern Illinois is on the outside looking in and ranked No. 25 after falling to No. 8 overall Central Arkansas.
In Craig Haley's projections of last week, both teams snuck into the bracket. The Redbirds had a first-round bye and were set up to play Appalachian State in the second round. Haley projected that the Panthers would play now-No.15 Towson in the first round with the chance to play Eastern Washington in the second round.
