Following Alabama's surprising loss on Saturday to Texas A&M, the Kansas State Wildcats and Oregon Ducks are now slated to meet in the National Championship with the Notre Dame Fighting Irish playing in the Rose Bowl.
The most recent BCS standings have Kansas State and Oregon in the top two spots with Notre Dame at No. 3, so these bowl projections, courtesy of SB Nation's Jason Kirk, correlate with those rankings. In the Rose Bowl, Notre Dame would meet Nebraska, who is projected to win the Big Ten.
Alabama, who now sits at No. 4 in the BCS standings, is projected to face the Clemson Tigers in the Sugar Bowl. Rounding out the BCS games, the Florida Gators are expected to play the Louisville Cardinals in the Orange Bowl, and the Oklahoma Sooners and Georgia Bulldogs would meet in the Fiesta Bowl.
Northwestern's Big Ten title game hopes took a hit Saturday with their overtime loss to the Michigan Wolverines, but according to the projections, the Wildcats are still on the path to a Jan. 1 bowl game – the Gator Bowl against Mississippi State.
