For the first time since Sept. 2, the Alabama Crimson Tide do not sit atop the AP Top 25. That distinction now belongs to the Oregon Ducks.
Alabama lost at home Saturday to Texas A&M, dropping them in the polls from No. 1 to No. 4 and moving the Aggies to No. 9. The loss painted a somewhat clearer picture of potential National Championship scenarios, with Oregon and Kansas State controlling their own destinies. Notre Dame sits on the outside looking in, and Alabama is ranked as the top one-loss team. Notre Dame faces Wake Forest and No. 21 USC in their final two games. Georgia, at 9-1, rounds out the top five.
Oregon received 45 of the 60 top votes. Kansas State received 14 top votes, and Notre Dame received one.
Northwestern fell out of the rankings and received only two votes following their overtime loss to Michigan. At No. 23, the Wolverines are ranked once again.
