The Chicago Bulls took advantage of a strong third quarter performance from their starting lineup to mount a big lead and then held on to hold off the Memphis Grizzlies for a 92-88 preseason win at the United Center.

The Bulls outscored the Grizzlies 32-13 in the third quarter after trailing by three points at the half. With the starting unit watching the fourth quarter, Memphis rallied behind 13 points by reserve center Jerome Jordan but fell short by four points.

With Derrick Rose sidelined, forward Luol Deng led the way for the Bulls with an efficient 18 points in 23 minutes. Center Joakim Noah added 10 points and seven rebounds while his backup Nazr Mohammed came off the bench to score 13 points and grab 12 rebounds.

None of the Memphis starters scored in double figures while playing minimal minutes in their preseason opener.

Chicago will return to preseason action on Friday when they play in Champaign, IL against the Cleveland Cavaliers.
