College football rankings, AP Poll Week 10: Notre Dame jumps to No. 4

Notre Dame jumps up one spot to No. 4, still behind Alabama, Oregon and Kansas State in AP poll

Matt Cashore-US PRESSWIRE

The Notre Dame Fighting Irish jumped up one spot to No. 4 this week following their road victory over No. 14 Oklahoma Saturday.

Oregon and Kansas State narrowly edged out the Fighting Irish for the No. 2 and No. 3 spots. Kansas State defeated No. 20 Texas Tech, 55-24, while Oregon steamrolled Colorado, 70-14. The Alabama Crimson Tide continue its stranglehold on the top spot, receiving all 60 first-place votes.

LSU jumped back into the top five, a place they have not been since their loss to Florida Oct. 6. LSU plays No. 1 Alabama this week.

Northwestern did not make the Top 25, but they did receive seven votes. The Wildcats are 7-2 on the season and 3-2 in the Big Ten. Only two Big Ten teams made the Top 25 this week: Ohio State at No. 6 and Nebraska at No. 21. Despite their top 10 ranking, Ohio State will not be playing in a bowl this year as they are ineligible for postseason play.
