The Northern Illinois Huskies trailed 21-17 at halftime against the Western Michigan Broncos Saturday. But then Jordan Lynch got going, and Northern Illinois proved unstoppable the rest of the way.
Northern Illinois blog Red and Black Attack summed up Lynch's performance:
He is for sure a Heisman candidate up to this point.
Lynch threw for 274 yards and four touchdowns and ran for 136 yards and two touchdowns. Lynch is completing 62 percent of his passes for 1,984 yards and 17 touchdowns with just three interceptions this season. He has also rushed for 1,185 yards on 170 carries (averaging 7.0 yards per carry) and 15 touchdowns.
Northern Illinois improved to 8-1 on the season and remained undefeated in the MAC at 5-0 with the win. The Huskies' only loss came in the season-opener against Big Ten opponent Iowa. Northern Illinois led much of that game, but a late rally by the Hawkeyes gave them an 18-17 win.
