Even without starting quarterback Everett Golson, the Notre Dame Fighting Irish picked up another victory to stay perfect on the season, beating the Brigham Young Cougars 17-14 in South Bend on Saturday. The win keeps them in fifth in the BCS rankings, sandwiched between the new No. 4 Oregon Ducks and the LSU Tigers at No. 6. Notre Dame faces the biggest test they've had so far this season when they travel to Norman, Oklahoma this Saturday to face the No. 8 Oklahoma Sooners in a game that's sure to have big BCS implications for both teams.
Oregon was the only team to fall a spot in the top 10 as the Oregon State Beavers, the aforementioned Sooners, The USC Trojans and Georgia Bulldogs all moved up a spot after the South Carolina Gamecocks fell out of the top 10 following their loss to the No. 2 Florida Gators. The Alabama Crimson Tide remain atop the standings after their 44-13 drubbing of the Tennessee Volunteers.
The Michigan Wolverines also make their first appearance in the BCS rankings this season, checking in at No. 22 following their narrow 12-10 win over Michigan State. The undefeated Ohio Bobcats also popped in at No. 24 after taking the weekend off. They'll continue MAC conference play when they face the Miami (OH) Redhawks this Saturday.
