The Northwestern Wildcats lead the Nebraska Cornhuskers 7-3 after the first quarter Saturday.
Nebraska's offense has gained 90 yards and the defense has held Northwestern to just 30 yards. Star running back Venric Mark, who came into the game with 792 rushing yards, has been held to just four yards on two carries.
Northwestern recovered a Nebraska fumble on a punt return at the Nebraska 14 late in the first quarter. Three plays later, Trevor Siemian threw a 10-yard touchdown pass to Dan Vitale. Siemian is 5-for-8 for 20 yards. Kain Colter has five carries for six yards. He's yet to throw a pass, but he was sacked once in the game.
The Cornhuskers scored on their first possession of the game on a 27-yard field goal by Brett Maher.
Nebraska quarterback Taylor Martinez is 5-for-9 for 53 yards in the quarter. He has also ran the ball three times for 14 yards. Qunicy Enunwa has one catch for 30 yards.
