Kirk Hinrich misses win over Bucks due to thumb injury

The Chicago Bulls guard was out for Tuesday's game, but the injury is not considered to be serious.

Mike DiNovo-US PRESSWIRE - Presswire

Chicago Bulls guard Kirk Hinrich has had a good preseason, but he missed Tuesday night's win over the Milwaukee Bucks with a thumb injury that appears to be minor.

"He is nicked more than anything," Thibodeau said. "I wanted to get a look at Nate (Robinson) and Marquis (Teague) more than anything, so I thought giving him the game off was the right thing to do. We will be off (Wednesday) and we will see where we are on Thursday."

Robinson took advantage of the opportunity provided by Hinrich's absence, scoring 24 points and adding 13 assists in the 100-94 victory. Teague, on the other hand, was not nearly as impressive, scoring only two points and turning the ball over twice in just 11 minutes.

Hinrich is likely to start the season as Chicago's point guard as the team awaits the return of Derrick Rose, and he's been logging heavy minutes in the preseason as the new-look Bulls look to come together. Hinrich had a down season for the Atlanta Hawks last year, but the Bulls are hoping that he can be a solid stop-gap until Rose is healthy enough to return to action.
